The Dark Side of Weight Loss

The majority of developed world is overweight; many are obese.  Weight loss is on everyone's mind.  Billions are spent on various weight loss treatments.  Those who lose weight often gain the weight right back, and are sometimes heavier than when they started.

This blog is for the weight loss winners.  Those who are losing weight, and keeping it off.  And this is a place to know that weight loss isn't without it's problems.  Your clothes never fit for long.  After awhile, no one really wants to hear about how much (more) weight you lost last month.  Or the fear inside that you'll gain the weight back.  And a whole post will be devoted to the confused self-image major weight loss brings.

The short version of my personal story goes like this:  I've been losing about 2 kg/ 5 lb a month, for over a year, a little over 14 kg/ 70 lb. That means I've changed about five sizes - and a lot of clothes.

So for all those with the weight loss headaches, confused feelings, and surprises - this blog is for you.  Everyone thinks we should be joyful about all the weight loss; and we are.  But there's a lot of other blowback (unintended consequences) no one wants to help us through.
